Jim and Nancy Terracciano are seasoned travel counselors, having been in the travel industry for over thirteen years. Cruise & Land Affairs is their second home based agency. Their previous agency was operated from 1996 into 2003. Jim and Nancy recognized that from time to time some clients may want to do something other than cruise. For that reason Cruise & Land Affairs differs from their first agency in that while they still specialize in cruises they have branched out to offer other types of vacations such as resorts, tours and some independent packages. 

Jim and Nancy started at a time when the words “home based” were new, foreign and somewhat taboo in the travel industry. In many cases home based agencies and their owners were shunned by ‘brick and mortar’ agency owners and trade associations. Jim and Nancy were part of a new era that helped break the mold of home based agencies being treated as second class businesses. To make a long story short, home based agencies are now prevalent, and the fastest growing segment throughout the industry, and cruise lines, tour operators and trade associations actively seek out their business rather than turning it away.

Along the way Jim and Nancy recognized that they would have to work harder to gain the credibility and recognition they desired to be successful in the industry. They took the path of industry education and certification to achieve their goals. They have attained the status of Certified Travel Counselors (CTC), the highest overall travel industry certification, which is awarded by the Travel Institute. It requires a course of study that many believe is the equivalent of a Masters Degree program and includes a requirement for years of experience within the field of management as well as travel sales. They were, and still are, the first and only CTC's in the tri-county Southern Maryland area. Nancy is a Master Cruise Counselors (MCC) as awarded by the Cruise Lines International Association and Jim has gone on to become an Elite Cruise Counselor (ECC). Also they have each completed Destination Specialist Courses (DS), one from the Travel Institute covering the Caribbean and one from the Hawaii Visitors and Convention Bureau covering the islands of Hawaii. They are currently working on another DS certification covering Europe. They have completed "expert" level training from all the major cruise lines and some land suppliers, including Sandals and Disney.

To date Jim and Nancy have taken over 50 cruises on 15 different cruise lines. They have conducted inspection tours of dozens of other ships of all makes and sizes, and several resorts. They routinely attend training seminars and conferences, including seminars at sea. In fact they routinely are requested to teach such seminars to other agents, and Jim has been a panel member at numerous travel forums. Jim is a member of the Board of Directors for the National Association of Commissioned Travel Agents (NACTA) . Nancy is the former Northeast Regional Area Manager , as well as the Maryland/DC Chapter Director for NACTA. They are members in good standing of the Calvert County Chamber of Commerce.
